I didn’t know.

I didn’t know when I married him that he would be the kind of guy that would read the book more than once when the three year old asked.

I didn’t know that he would work so hard and keep moving up and eventually make enough that I’d able to be home to raise our kids. The greatest gift he could ever give me!

I didn’t know he would purposely go into our teenage boy’s room and fart near his bed just because (yes-seriously). Yes, even if the kid is in his bed.

I didn’t know he would join a band and pretend be a rockstar a few times a year. He’s a rockstar to me everyday.

I didn’t know he would commit himself to Christ in his mid twenties and totally change the trajectory of our lives and our children’s lives.

I didn’t know what it was like to see his heart break and I didn’t know how much I would need to be a part of fixing it.

I didn’t know he would coach U12 soccer and be really good at turning a team around in just 9 short weeks.

I didn’t know he would be able to change break pads and oil or fix broken dryers.

I didn’t know he would use math to be sure that picture frames hang perfectly straight with the correct length between them and the wall. I didn’t even use math in math class!

I didn’t know his ability to forgive. I didn’t know how much grace he could pour over me. I didn’t know how much I would need his forgiveness and grace.

I didn’t know what it would be like to have to count calories and carbs and track steps with him. Just hoping to be down a jean size or two sometime in the future.

I didn’t know that him kissing my forehead could bring me a sense of protection, calm and comfort no matter what was going on.

I didn’t know that he would always know how to make me laugh and that somehow we wouldn’t run out of things to talk about. At least, not yet.

I didn’t know he would be just as into photobombing our 13 year old trying to pose in a tree as I was. Actually, when I married him I didn’t know what photobombing was.

I didn’t know that he would bring to fruition dreams I didn’t even know I had.

So much that I just didn’t know, but I love learning all these things as we go.
